Walk with Ukrainian Stories in Toronto: From Hart House to St. Volodymir Institute

Join us for a walk from Hart House to the St. Volodymyr Institute (SVI) and discover the people, history, and contributions of the Ukrainian community in downtown Toronto. Just a few blocks apart, these two cultural landmarks open a window into the neighbourhood’s diverse stories.

Guided by Oksana Hawrylak, SVI’s Creative Director and co-founder of Kosa Kolektiv, the walk will conclude with a visit to St. Volodymyr Institute, a leading Ukrainian cultural and educational institution that has been active for over six decades. Students will explore the building and its role as a hub for theatre, exhibitions, archives, and community life. The visit will also feature special exhibits on the Holodomor, introduced by the Executive Director of the Holodomor Research and Education Consortium (HREC), as well as the Kosiv exhibit at the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Ontario Branch, and a tour of the SVI Library.

Note: The walk will take place rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Free to attend, but registration is required. TTC subsidies are available upon request. Meeting details will be shared upon registration.
