Motanka Dolls Workshop with Lucy Ireland

Discover the tradition of the Ukrainian motanka in this hands-on workshop. Learn about the meaning behind these handmade textile dolls, and create your own using simple wrapping and tying techniques.

Instructor Lucy Ireland is a retired elementary school teacher from the Durham District School Board, where she specialized in teaching art and vocal/instrumental music for the last 10 years of her career. She served as the choir director at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Oshawa for 15 years. Having recently moved to Toronto, she is eager to contribute to the Ukrainian cultural community here in Toronto.
