Ukrainian Heritage Month was a full one. From the library to our basement, from the festival to the candlelight poetry night: thank you for showing up, engaging, and making it what it was.

History Under Fire opened the month with a conversation on libraries, museums and archives under attack, followed by VITA ART’s dramatic reading of Vynnychenko’s Black Panther and Polar Bear. Ukrainian Film Industry at TIFF took Ukrainian cinema underground for one night, as the Ukrainian National Stand at TIFF: The Market and INSTITUT brought filmmakers, producers and industry friends together at 620 Spadina.

The Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival filled three days with all things Ukrainian. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the SVI x Kolo Lounge: books browsed, conversations started.
On the festival’s last night, we went straight down the stairs for GORDIY STARUKH: hurdy-gurdy, voice and electronics, with Kryva Kosa opening. The unofficial after-party.

We also gathered for an immersive culinary experience, By the Window, hosted by Mark Marczyk and Yulia Zdobyliak, and closed the season by candlelight with Serhii Titov & Kirill Savransky at our Candlelight Poetry Night.

Thank you to the Shevchenko Foundation for supporting this month. To our team and every volunteer who gave their time: we couldn’t have done it without you.
