We’re Hiring: Join SVI as Our New Librarian
St. Volodymyr Institute (SVI) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Librarian to join our team part-time and help steward one of Toronto’s most unique Ukrainian cultural collections.
Our library holds more than 16,000 titles—from rare publications and historical texts to contemporary literature—serving scholars, students, artists, and the broader Ukrainian-Canadian community. As we look toward the future, we’re excited to reimagine the role of our library within the broader context of cultural programming, research, and public engagement.

The Librarian will manage all aspects of our library operations, including collections development, cataloguing, and public access, while also helping to shape future programming.
This is a part-time position (24 hours per week) with an hourly wage ($24–26/hr). The role reports to the Executive Director and involves working closely with the SVI team to ensure the library remains a vibrant and accessible resource.
Key Responsibilities
Managing acquisitions, cataloguing, and preservation of library materials
Developing policies and programs that promote public engagement with the collection
Supporting volunteers, patrons, and community members
Collaborating with internal and external partners to grow the library’s impact
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with:
Fluency in English and Ukrainian
A background in Information Science, History, Slavic Studies, or a related field
Experience working in a library and with digital tools (Library World, Google Suite, Zoom, Squarespace)
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
If you’re passionate about literature, culture, and community, we’d love to hear from you!
