Reflecting on TUFF 2025: Celebrating Ukrainian Stories, Together

From April 24 to 27, film lovers, community organizers, and curious newcomers gathered at The Royal Cinema for the third annual Toronto Ukrainian Film Festival (TUFF). As a proud partner of this year’s festival, St. Volodymyr Institute (SVI) was honoured to support a powerful weekend of bold storytelling, cultural resilience, and cinematic connection.

This year’s program brought together an impressive lineup of award-winning documentaries, gripping dramas, sci-fi adventures, and deeply personal narratives from Ukrainian filmmakers worldwide. Some films made us laugh, others brought us to tears — and all reminded us of the importance of preserving and celebrating Ukrainian voices.

If you joined us at any of this year’s screenings or events, we’d love to hear from you.

Shape the Future of TUFF

To help TUFF continue to grow and improve, we invite both attendees and non-attendees to share their feedback.

  • Did you attend this year? Tell us which films you saw and what stood out to you.

  • Couldn’t make it? Let us know why and what would make the festival more accessible or appealing in the future.

Your input will help shape future programming, improve the audience experience, and bring even more meaningful Ukrainian stories to screens in Toronto and beyond.

Take Survey

As a thank-you, you’ll be entered into a draw to win TUFF swag — including limited-edition t-shirts and signed Porcelain War posters.

As we look to the future of TUFF, we’re grateful for the opportunity to support Ukrainian cinema and amplify the voices of filmmakers navigating themes of war, identity, and survival through art.

We hope you’ll take a moment to share your experience — and we can’t wait to see you at future screenings and cultural events at SVI.
